Happy 4th of July! This week, I’m taking a break from our usual HIPAA Blogs to throw a little love to Pack for a Purpose (PfaP) www.Packforapurpose.org, one of the great charities that we work with here at Total HIPAA.
So, what is Pack for a Purpose? It’s an easy way for you to take requested supplies the next time you go on vacation. That’s right! PfaP shows you how to easily support projects in the countries you visit. These range from schools, orphanages, and wildlife preserves to clinics and hospitals. PfaP lists 425 locations in 60 countries and new ones are added every week.
The tagline is Small Space. Little Effort. Big Impact. The PfaP site gives you all the information you need to make your vacation more meaningful by taking as little as 5 pounds of supplies. The added bonus is you have that much empty luggage to fill with souvenirs!
The Pack for a Purpose site lists accommodations with their projects and wish lists of supplies. You choose the destination you will be visiting, and pack some of the supplies they are looking for. Then, drop them off at your destination. It’s easy! Most schools are looking for supplies like pencils, soccer balls, books, and pens. Clinics are looking for basic medical supplies. This is a great way to visit a foreign land and do some real good.
Our President, Jan Karn, is on the board and has been with PfaP since its inception. In fact, the idea for this charity was brought to fruition at her dining room table.

Stay safe everyone, and we will be back on Monday with our regularly scheduled blog!
The PfaP mission is to positively impact communities around the world by providing them with basic school supplies and sometimes medical devices like stethoscopes. We make it easy for travelers who want to take meaningful supplies to the destinations they visit. We vet the participating programs and establish the drop off locations in the countries visited. You don’t need to make a special effort to get the materials to the programs.
